Middle schooler who writes own songs will receive advice from Broadway professionals

Grace Oddo could not use words alone to describe how excited she is to participate in the Broadway Artists Alliance in New York City this summer.

Perhaps, during a recent interview, she should've written lyrics to a song about her excitement -- and then sung them.

Oddo, an incoming Bellevue Middle School eighth-grader, wishes to be either an actress or song writer. She said it's important that those who compose songs pen lyrics as soon as they're feeling an emotion -- advice she's followed from American singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, whom Oddo said she loves "with all my heart."

The Broadway Artists Alliance provides training for promising young musical theater performers.
