Local woman brings Zumba to the Bahamas

When most people travel to the Bahamas, they sleep in and relax on the beach, but not Janet Cok -- at least not earlier this month.

For three days, she rose before the sun to lead Zumba Fitness Classes at 5:30 a.m. in the morning in a parking lot while visiting the island with her friends, Samantha and Jill Wiers, also of Willard.

Samantha Wiers taught kindergarten and first grade at Sunland, a Christian School in the Bahamas from 2011-2013. Wiers wanted to return to the island to visit her former students and invited Cok along -- knowing she'd jump at the chance to help her Bahamian friend, Bonnie Basden, who recently founded the fitness group, "Slim Possible."
