A Bellevue man died and a New London man was injured this morning in a two-vehicle crash on Fitchville River Road at the intersection of Prospect Road in Fitchville Township.
Scott A. Shuker, 27, of Bellevue, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, said troopers with the Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol.
Tyler Keathley, 21, of New London, was driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix east on Prospect Road at 9:01 a.m. when he failed to stop at the stop sign at Fitchville River Road and struck the southbound 1997 Pontiac Grand Am being driven by Shuker, troopers said.
Both vehicles came to a rest at the southeast corner of the intersection, with Shuker’s vehicle landing on its top, troopers said.
Shuker, who had been wearing his safety belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to Eastman Funeral Home in New London.
Keathley, who also was wearing his safety belt, sustained non-incapacitating injuries, troopers said. He was treated at the scene and released.
There is no indication of alcohol or drug involvement, troopers said, adding the weather wasn’t a factor.
The following agencies assisted at the scene: North Central EMS, the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Toledo St. Vincent’s LifeFlight and the New London Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation, and charges are pending, troopers said.
