A tractor-trailer driver was charged in connection with a three-vehicle crash in Townsend Township.

Charles Nardi Jr., 49, of Painesville, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way while turning left. His citation is in connection with an accident at 3:56 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Ohio 601, which was investigated by the state Highway Patrol.

Nardi was westbound on U.S. 20 when he made a left turn onto Ohio 601. Troopers said Edgar R. Rowe, 73, of Oberlin, who was eastbound approaching the 601 intersection, saw the truck driver enter his lane and swerved to avoid Nardi, who hit Rowe's vehicle on the left rear.

That collision pushed Rowe into the vehicle driven by Jessica M. Carroll, 36, of 975 Carroll Road, Collins, who was stopped at the Ohio 601 stop sign facing northbound.

The vehicles driven by Rowe and Carroll stopped off the right side of Ohio 601.

North Central EMS transported Rowe's passenger, Marietta S. Rowe, 71, of Oberlin, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries.
