The state champion Norwalk High School boys' basketball team furthered helped defray the cost for two of the school's N.E.R.D. Nation teams competing in a world championship event.
NHS math and engineering teacher Adam Leutenegger said the basketball team has contributed $500 toward the cost. That adds to the $1,000 the robotics teams received from the Norwalk Lions Club. The robotics activities aren't funded by the school. N.E.R.D. Nation relies on sponsorships, donations and fundraisers.
N.E.R.D. Nation teams "F" and "G" competed in the VEX Robotics Competition world championships April 23 through 26 in Anaheim. The students, whose teams were among 400 worldwide, left April 22 and returned April 27.
