Heroin defendant is a no-show

A heroin defendant failed to appear for his final pretrial hearing Tuesday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Jim Conway issued a warrant for the arrest of Raymond Caudill Jr., 43, most recently of 100 S. Main St., Lot 42, North Fairfield. He is charged with possession of heroin in connection with an Oct. 29 incident.

Conway said court officials had looked in the courthouse hallway and researched the online Erie County Jail roster and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections website before Tuesday's hearing, but "we had no luck in finding him."

"I don't have any information (about Caudill) at this point," Huron County Public Defender David Longo told the judge.

Caudill's trial date is April 10, but it's likely to be rescheduled.
