The Norwalk Truckers boys' basketball team defeated Columbus Bishop Watterson 65-58 to win the Division II state championship Saturday at Value City Arena at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
Norwalk (29-1) was led by senior Ben Haraway, who scored 29 points. Classmate Jeff Thomas added 18 points in Norwalk's victory over the defending state champions.
This is Norwalk's first state title in basketball, and the first in any team sport since 1989, when the Norwalk boys' volleyball team under the direction of coach Grace Hutchinson defeated Perrysburg in the state champsionship game. The 1974 Truckers won a state title in football.
A reception for the team was held later in the day. Watch the video below to see highlights from that event at Norwalk High School.
