The village's new police chief is humbled by the support he had during his swearing-in ceremony.

"It meant the world to me that there were enough people who cared about me as a person and not just the job I do," Bob Meister said.

Many family members, friends, local business owners and most of the police department witnessed Meister being sworn in during the Milan village council meeting Wednesday night. His wife, Tina, and their 7-year-old daughter, Mallory were there too. Mallory pinned a new badge on her father, who has worked for the Milan Police Department for 13 years.

At least once, the crowded room erupted into a round of applause.
