Huron County Sheriff Dane Howard issued a Level 2 snow emergency just before 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Under a Level 2, roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads also may be icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the road. Contract your employer to see if you should report to work.
In Ohio, there are three levels of snow emergency, with a Level 1 being the mildest. The county had been under a Level 1 until Howard elevated it.
The inclement weather has led to a number of cancelations.
The Norwalk Alliance Church food bank normally scheduled for 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday was canceled.
