A convicted drug defendant failed to show up for his sentencing hearing Thursday.

Michael J. Creston, 30, of 11905 Strecker Road, Bellevue, pleaded guilty in early December to possession of heroin. The fifth-degree felony is for a May 14, 2012 incident.

Huron County Common Pleas Judge Jim Conway said the defendant didn't appear for his pre-sentence interview and officials had trouble contacting him.

"So it doesn't come as any surprise he didn't come to court," the judge added.

Huron County Public Defender David Longo said he didn't know where Creston was, but his office had sent him a letter notifying him of the sentencing hearing.

At the request of the state, Conway issued a warrant for Creston's arrest Thursday. He earlier posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.
