The White House sent a lengthy list of nominations on Monday to the Senate for approval – a list that included a handful of Ohioans.

Among those on the list were Peter C. Tobin, who the White House re-nominated as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio.

The White House nominated Tobin in August 2013, but it stalled in the Senate.

Tobin was previously superintendent of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation from 2009 to 2011. He also has served as the chief of police for the Powell Police Department and later for the London Police Department. He also served in various positions in the Columbus Division of Police.

The White House also announced:

The reappointment of Father Joseph Pius Pietrzyk of Zanesville to be a member of the Board of Directors for the Legal Services Corporation. Pietrzyk has served as a parish priest in Zanesville and is currently studying at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome.

The nomination of Kathryn D. Sullivan to serve as undersecretary of vommerce for oceans and atmosphere. Sullivan is a former director of the Battelle Center for Mathematics and Science Education Policy in the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at Ohio State University and also spent a decade as president and CEO of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus. She’s currently acting director of the agency that she seeks to head.

The nomination of former Youngstown Mayor Roy K.J. “Jay” Williams to be assistant secretary of commerce for economic development.
