A doggone happy ending for Lab siblings

This dog tale started on an ominous and tragic note.

A Huron County Humane Society (HCHS) investigator left a warning to the owner of a mother dog and her pups at the sight of a report of neglect: The location was a dangerous one for the dogs; it was near a major road, and the investigator offered to take the dogs to the society's shelter.

The owner refused, but tragically realized the mistake the next day: The mother dog and one of her pups wandered onto the road, were struck and killed by a vehicle. Another pup apparently drank some poison while trying to quench its thirst. It suffered a seizure and died.

That left two remaining pups. And for them, it was a warm and fuzzy ending often seen in movies during this most wonderful time of the year.
