'She did it for the kids'

College student Alison Doughty is all about "the kids" and underdogs.

For the last four years, the 2009 Willard High School graduate has been involved in the annual Bowling Green State University Dance Marathon, which raises money for Mercy Children's Hospital in Toledo. The school has partnered with the hospital for about 19 years and in that time, BGSU has raised more than $2.7 million.

This year, the marathon raised about $314,000. BGSU recently presented the hospital with a $40,500 check, which was money raised by an award-winning YouTube video created by the daughter of Norwalk City Schools Superintendent Dennis Doughty and his wife, Kris.

"I can say it's just an indescribable organization," said the 22-year-old BGSU senior, who is part of the core leadership team.
