An Adrian, Mich. man died after he apparently was strangled and another man was injured today when a soldier paid a visit to his estranged wife in Lenawee County’s Raisin Township, the Michigan State Police reported.
Authorities did not release the names of the suspect or the victims. The suspect, 31, was arrested and held in the Lenawee County jail. He was on leave from the Army. A warrant request is to be submitted today to the county prosecutor, troopers said.
Authorities were called to a mobile home in the 2900 block of Gady Road about 8:45 a.m. Troopers and Tecumseh police found residents performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a 20-year-old man who had ligature marks on his neck. He was taken to Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh, where he was pronounced dead. A second man, 18, had a stab wound in the shoulder and was treated at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian.
Troopers said that interviews and evidence at the scene revealed that the man who died was strangled during the early morning hours and that the other victim was stabbed as he tried to help.
Staff from the state police forensic science laboratory were called to the scene. Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident.
