Bond sent at $1M for man in child sex case

TNS Regional News • Sep 29, 2013 at 8:07 AM

The 59-year-old Riverside man indicted on 29 counts of felony sex crimes against three young girls had his bond set at $1 million.

Michael Bohannon was arraigned Thursday morning via video in front of Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Krumholtz. Through a public defender, Bohannon stood mute to the charges before Krumholtz entered a not guilty plea on Bohannon’s behalf.

Bohannon was indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on 16 counts of rape of a child younger than 10, four counts of rape of a child younger than 13, seven counts of gross sexual imposition of a child younger than 13 and two counts of importuning.

Officials said two of the alleged victims are sisters while the third is their friend. Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Greg Flannagan has said Bohannon is a friend of the sisters’ family. The girls are now ages 13, 12 and 13. The time frame of the alleged crimes ranges from January 2008 until September 2013 and began when the girls were ages 6 to 8 years old. Flannagan said Bohannon’s record only shows minor traffic offenses.

A Riverside police report indicates Bohannon may have made cell phone videos of himself with girls. The report said a witness said he was told Bohannon engaged in sexual activity with girls and sometimes had them watch video of him with other girls. A Riverside police detective did not return a message seeking comment.

The police report said one of the girls’ fathers heard from his daughter that Bohannon had forced her into a sex act. The report mentions allegations by two other girls. Riverside police have said there could be more victims who could contact them at (937) 233-1801.

A social media page of Bohannon’s identifies him as a long-haul tow truck driver for a local towing company and a 1971 Stebbins High School graduate.

Bohannon’s daughter, Jessica, said her father has lived in Riverside for at least the last 26 years.

She said her father is “completely stunned” and “blown away” by these allegations.
