A local homeowner confronted a man she reportedly found in her bedroom without permission early Thursday morning.

The Norwalk Police Department arrested Jorden A. Santiago, 22, of 165 Concord Court, near the suspected crime scene. He was charged with burglary and transported to the Huron County Jail.

"It was near the home he is accused of burglarizing," Norwalk Assistant Law Director Scott Christophel said.

"The homeowner woke up to find the defendant in her bedroom in her residence. She confronted him. He left. She called police. He was apprehended shortly thereafter," the prosecutor said.

"I don't believe there were any injuries. The case is still under investigation. There is an allegation some items were stolen. At least one item was stolen," Christophel said.

Police hadn't recovered the unspecified item as of late Thursday morning.

Christophel said he doesn't believe Santiago knows the victim.

If convicted, Santiago faces six to 18 months behind bars.
