A jury found a former Willard woman not guilty on two assault charges Friday at Norwalk Municipal Court.
The defendant, Vronsetta Moore, 21, was accused of assaulting a 19-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl back in June.
"The allegation was that my client first assaulted the 19-year-old then the 14-year-old," defense attorney James Joel Sitterly said.
Sitterly said, through testimony, it was learned the 19-year-old first threatened Moore with a can of Mace before the client ultimately broke the 19-year-old's nose.
The 14-year-old received a "black eye" but Sitterly noted there was "no credible evidence" during testimony that indicated the source of the black eye.
The jury deliberated about 30 minutes before rendering the "not guilty" verdict.
The case was prosecuted by Norwalk assistant law director Scott Christophel.
"The alleged victims' rendition of the events had a serious defect in terms of culpability," Sitterly said.
