OVI checkpoint tonight in Huron Co.

Norwalk Reflector Staff • Jul 20, 2013 at 10:13 PM

The Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Norwalk Police Department, have announced an OVI checkpoint will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. tonight on U.S. 250 near Lais Road in Huron County.

The checkpoint then will be moved to Cleveland Road just west of Old State Road from 10 p.m. to midnight.

The OVI checkpoints, funded by federal grants, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. They also will be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.

"If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don't let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired," said Lt. Douglas Hamman, of the Norwalk post.
