A local family and their friends will sell lemonade in memory of a local girl who died of cancer.

The 10th annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Wakeman Community Park on U.S. 20 in downtown Wakeman.

The event will be held in memory of Kylie Maddison Houtchings. Her family and friends will be present to answer your questions, provide baked goods and offer lemonade. They will also raffle off items from local businesses. This year’s winners will be drawn on July 28 at the annual Wakeman Fireman’s Festival. Six raffle tickets will cost $5 or $1 each and are available for purchase until July 28. This year’s goal is to raise $10,000.

Houtchings died seven years ago.

A front-page story about Houtchings and the lemonade fundraiser was published recently in the Norwalk Reflector.
