Two drivers were charged in connection with an improper passing collision with possible injuries Tuesday afternoon.

Darryl A. Barkel, 68, of Byron Center, Mich., was charged with improper passing.

The other driver, Jason K. Tanner, 28, of 227 Ohio 60, New London, was charged with failure to turn left without due regard, a seatbelt violation, a child restraint violation and driving with a suspended license. The child restraint violation is in connection with a 3-year-old boy who was a passenger.

Barkel was southeast on U.S. 250 behind Tanner about 3:55 p.m. Trooper Bryan Dail, of the state Highway Patrol, reported Tanner turned left onto Township Road 1601 when Barkel passed Tanner on the left side and Barkel's vehicle hit Tanner's.

Firelands Ambulance Service transported Tanner and one of his passengers, Steven Bohland, 26, of 301 Township Road 1381, Greenwich, to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with possible injuries.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene with disabling damage.
