One perhaps little-known fact about baseball great Ty Cobb is that he owned two A.B. Chase pianos.
Cobb bought them from Norwalk resident John Schumm's grandfather, who tuned pianos and supervised workers at the Norwalk company.
While the whereabouts of Cobb's pianos might be a mystery, at least two A.B. Chase pianos can be accounted for. One sits in Schumm's house and the other was recently dedicated at a concert at St. Paul Episcopal Church marking the 100th anniversary of the construction of the A.B. Chase piano.
A story about this subject was published recently in the Norwalk Reflector.
