The Milan post of the state Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that happened at 5:32 p.m. Wednesday on the Ohio Turnpike near the Fremont toll gate, milepost 91 in Sandusky County's Sandusky Township.

Douglas Rhoades, 33, of Fremont, was driving a Honda Goldwing east on the Ohio Turnpike, exiting at gate 91, when his motorcycle crossed over a concrete divider strip into the westbound entrance ramp and struck the trailer of a 2000 Peterbuilt tractor trailer, troopers said. Rhoades, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Roger Tooley, 56, of Kent, was not injured, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
