A man accused of stabbing a male victim faces two to eight years in prison if convicted.

John W. Stewart, 44, of 48A Cline St., goes to trial May 30 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He is charged with felonious assault in connection with a Feb. 28 incident investigated by the Norwalk Police Department.

"The victim provoked the fight. The fight occurred inside the defendant's residence," defense attorney Tom Freeman said at Monday's arraignment.

Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said the actual stabbing, which caused serious injuries, happened outside.

Stewart must post a $15,000 bond before being released from the Huron County Jail. He is prohibited from having any association with the victim.
