Two area motorists refused any sobriety testing in connection with separate traffic stops by the state Highway Patrol on the same night.

Anthony W. Waugh, 58, of Sandusky, was stopped by Sgt. Jason Demuth on Ohio 61 near Valley Park Drive in Norwalk at 7:05 p.m. Monday for going left of center. The trooper reported finding an open beer container on the driver's floorboard in the vehicle.

Waugh was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), left of center, a seatbelt violation and an open container violation.

Norwalk resident Benjamin J. Barman, 25, of 202 W. Main St., was stopped by Trooper Austin Young on Pleasant Street near West Main Street in Norwalk at 11:57 p.m. The trooper warned him about not having a license plate light and charged Barman with DUI and a seatbelt violation.

Troopers reported Waugh has no prior DUI convictions, but Barman has one prior.
