The state Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post is investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash that occurred at 3:53 p.m. Tuesday on Crescent Road, east of Rome Greenwich Road.

Friedric Reep, 16, of Greenwich, was driving a Yamaha Ovation snowmobile east in a field off the north side of Crescent Road when he entered the road and was struck by a 2001 Ford Windstar being driven by Jonathan Gibson, 34, of Willard, troopers said.

Reep and his passenger, 13-year-old Alexis Hinckley of New London, were ejected from the snowmobile. Neither teen was wearing a helmet, troopers said.

The snowmobile came to rest off the south side of Crescent Road, while the Windstar stopped in the middle of the road.

Reep sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown from the scene by a LifeFlight helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Hinckley sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported from the scene by North Central EMS to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

Neither Gibson nor his passenger, Jason Gibson, 33, of New London, was injured. They were both wearing their safety belts. Their vehicle was towed from the scene by Jensen’s Towing.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the New London Fire Department, North Central EMS, Life Flight and Jensen’s Towing.
