The blizzard warning in effect for Huron County and the surrounding area has expired. It was replace with a winter weather advisory that will last until 11 p.m.
The blizzard warning expired at 7 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. Originally, the warning was to last until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Also, at about 3:30 p.m., the weather service lowered the anticipated snow accumulation from 8 to 12 inches to 6 to 8 inches.
Snow accumulations between 8 to 12 inches are anticipated, with locally higher amounts possible. Snow has been falling at a rate of one inch per hour in some places.
Northeast winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, are expected.
Heavy snow and gusty winds were to make travel difficult this afternoon into tonight.
Huron County is now under a level two snow emergency. In Ohio, there are three snow advisories for drivers, with a level one being the mildest.
There is the possibility that the show could become mixed with sleet and freezing rain from Knox County northeast to Mahoning County as slightly warmer air may move into that region.
Temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees. Temperatures will drop into the low to mid 20s Wednesday evening.
