An accused heroin dealer's attorney says it appears the defendant wants to take his case to trial next month.

The Huron County Common Pleas Court trial of Mansfield resident Keith D. Wilson, 42, is scheduled for Jan. 8. He is charged with one count of trafficking in heroin in connection with a Sept. 12 incident.

Defense attorney T. Douglas Clifford said his client has indicated he wants to take his case to trial.

Judge Jim Conway asked Clifford and Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler if there have been any plea negotiations.

"We've tried; we've failed," Leffler said.

Wilson's attorney has 10 days to file any possible motions. Wilson was in the Huron County Jail as of press time; he's been unable to post 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.
