The teachers union is taking Superintendent Carol Girton to task for commenting more to the media about negotiations than what union members said was  agreed upon.

According to a press release from the Ohio Education Association (OEA), the New London Education Association (NLEA) and the school board "agreed to issue a one-line statement indicating that bargaining has been suspended until Jan. 8, 2013.

"That statement was to have been the only comments made to the media regarding bargaining. Members of the New London Education Association are dismayed and concerned that a representative of the board -- specifically, Superintendent Carol Girton -- violated both the spirit and intent of that agreement by providing further comments to the media. The NLEA is "pursuing further recourse regarding this incident."
