U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) defeated Republican challenger Josh Mandel, the state treasurer.

In another congressional race, Democrat Marcy Kaptur defeated Republican challenger Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher for a U.S. House seat. In March, she defeated Dennis Kucinich in a primary that pitted a pair of incumbents, thanks to redistricting. Kaptur's 9th District constituents include Erie County residents.

U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-Lakeville) is defeating Democratic challenger Joyce Healy-Abrams the redrawn 7th Congressional District, which encompasses 10 Ohio counties, including the southern part of Huron County.

U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) garnered about 59% of the vote in the redrawn District 4, which includes the rest of Huron County. Democrat Jim Slone and Libertarian Chris Kalla were challenging him.
