A suspected burglar was one of eight defendants indicted Friday by a Huron County grand jury.
Todd R. Brown, 31, of 3915 Henry St., No. 3, Plymouth, was charged with one count each of burglary and theft of a firearm. Huron County Sheriff's Detective John Harris investigated the suspected Sept. 18 incident on Baseline Road in Greenwich Township.
Brown was arrested later at a Mansfield hotel, where Harris located Brown with the help of the Mansfield Police Department. Authorities recovered several stolen firearms and a large amount of cash there.
The items are still being held as evidence.
"They (the firearms) have to be test-fired to make sure they're operable," Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff said.
After being photographed, the evidence will be released to the owners.
Authorities suspect this was a drug-related crime.
"Like all addicts, they steal to support their habit," Woodruff said. "They trade (victims' belongings) for drugs or sell them for drugs."
