A local driver was cited in the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Rome Greenwich and Crescent roads.
Rose M. McDaniel, 56, 2540 Crescent Road, New London, was charged with failure to yield in the collision with the 1997 Ford Ranger driven by Desmond Shepherd, 20, 1023 S. U.S. 250, New London, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol.
Shepherd was traveling east on Crescent Road, approaching the intersection of Rome Greenwich Road just before 1 p.m. Sunday. McDaniel was stopped northbound on Rome Greenwich Road at the intersection, troopers said.
McDaniel pulled into the intersection and hit Shepherd's pickup truck in the rear, said troopers with the Norwalk post of the state Highway Patrol.
After the collision, Shepherd went off the north side of the road, where the truck overturned. McDaniel continued north and traveled off the right side.
The truck that Shepherd was driving was towed from the scene with severe damage to the entire vehicle. The 2003 PT Cruiser driven by McDaniel was towed away with disabling damage to the center front.
Both drivers were taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. Neither individual was listed as a patient late Sunday afternoon.
The New London Volunteer Fire Department and North Central EMS assisted troopers at the scene.
