Norwalk officials have fired city electrician Tom Kohlmeyer based on allegations that he used drugs.
According to city documents, Kohlmeyer violated a "last chance agreement" dated Oct. 28, stemming from testing positive to a "drug of abuse," -- a violation of the city's anti-drug policy.
Kohlmeyer was placed on 30-day unpaid leave on Oct. 28 and fired effective Dec. 1 for violating the city's drug-free workplace policy, Norwalk Law Director Stuart O'Hara said. Kohlmeyer had worked with the city for nearly 30 years, O'Hara said.
