Mobile Mexican eatery opens in Norwalk

Norwalk native Nick Choma said he's put $20,000 and "a lot of blood, sweat and tears" into his latest venture -- a Mexican restaurant on wheels called Dos Gringos.

Choma's home base is 100 Whittlesey Ave., across the street from the Midtown Shopping Center in Norwalk. But come Sept. 17, Choma will move a couple blocks South to Main Street, where he will set up his 8 by 16 trailer at the Autumn Leaves Festival. He is looking for similar events to set up shop when he's not stationed at 100 Whittelsey Ave., where he has a lease that's good through Dec. 1.

"If the community would like me to stick around I'd love to," said the son of Sharon and Ken and nephew of Dave's Food Mart owner Dave Fisher. However, during the winter months, Choma said he will likely look to operate his trailer indoors in places such as college campuses. It would be hard to operate an outdoor trailer when it's 10 degrees, he said.
