A man has been arrested and charged with killing his girlfriend's father.
Cory A. Kelly, 23, of Galion, was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with aggravated murder in the death of Joseph C. Rosella, said Morrow County Sheriff Steven R. Brenneman.
Rosella, 48, was found fatally beaten in the garage of his home at 6213 Congress Township Road in Mount Gilead on Monday. Early reports said Rosella had been shot in the head. Brenneman said his office initially did not correct those erroneous reports to help with the detectives' investigation.
Brenneman said Kelly was dating and possibly living with Rosella's daughter.
Investigators are still hoping to find an aluminum bat that they think was used in the beating. It might have been discarded near Eastside Park in Galion, Brenneman said.
Kelly is being held at the Morrow County jail and was expected to be arraigned today in Morrow County Municipal Court. His bail has been set at $500,000.
