Charges are pending in the state Highway Patrol's investigation of a three-vehicle accident on U.S. 20 near Butler Road.

At 5:25 p.m. Friday, Elizabeth R. Polcyn, 20, of 1734 Chenango Road, Wakeman, was stopped on U.S. 20 heading west while waiting for traffic. Logan R. Fannin, 20, of 112 1/2 Spring St., Willard, was westbound when he failed to maintain assured clear distance and hit the left rear of Polcyn's 1997 Jeep Cherokee, Trooper Jeremy Clemons said.

After that collision, Fannin's 1999 Buick Century went left of center and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Patricia K. Muirhead, 57, of 45 Homewood Ave., Clemons said. All four occupants in Muirhead's vehicle were injured and transported to hospitals, with one being flown by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.
