An infant secured in a carrier who fell from a shopping cart at a Norwalk store was transported to the hospital.
The incident happened about 6:45 p.m. Monday at the Dollar Tree Store, 201 Milan Ave. Norwalk Police Capt. Eric Hipp said the Gallup Avenue parents were shopping and after the father placed the carrier into the car, "it rolled onto the floor" when he started pushing the cart. Hipp said the father thought he had secured the infant carrier properly into the cart.
"The baby was secured inside ... and probably prevented injuries," Hipp said. "The child was a little older than 1 month."
While the boy didn't have any apparent injuries, North Central EMS transported the child to Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Police had no further updates on the child's condition Wednesday.
"It just seems it was an accident," Hipp said.
Police forwarded a report to Huron County Children Services.
