Former Norwalk police captain dies

A former Norwalk police captain has died.

William "Bill" Braker, 64, of Norwalk, died Saturday at his residence after a brief illness.

A 1965 Norwalk High grad, Braker was appointed to the Norwalk Police Department in 1969 and attended the Ohio Police Officer Training Academy. After 25 years of service to the Norwalk community, he retired in 1994 as a captain.

After retirement, he worked for Don Tester Ford as the service manager and then worked for Roeder Harley Davidson in Sandusky as the service adviser.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Penny (Wilson) Braker of Norwalk, son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Hope Braker of Norwalk, and daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jason Braker-Dalton of Wakeman, Victoria Braker of Norwalk and Bridgette and Brian Liedorff of Monroeville.
