A Norwalk High School (NHS) student faces 88 days of suspended detention time for attacking a 14-year-old girl over things written about her on Facebook.

The 16-year-old defendant has been ordered to report to the Erie County Juvenile Justice Center by 4 p.m. Friday to serve two days in detention. She was charged with assault, a first-degree misdemeanor if committed by an adult, for the Nov. 11 incident in the crowded, front NHS hallway.

Huron County Juvenile Court Administrator Chris Mushett said the defendant hadn't been in detention since the altercation, which was witnessed by multiple students who were walking through the halls at the time. "She'd been at home," Mushett said.
