WILLARD The public school district has been honored by the Bureau of Worker's Compensation for its safety record.

The bureau's Division of Safety and Hygiene recognized the district for operating without a lost-time accident from Dec. 19, 2005 through Dec. 31, 2007. That amounts to 698,529 hours employees worked without a lost-time accident.

"We've made a concerted effort to make sure our buildings are safe," superintendent Dennis Doughty said.

In other business at Monday's meeting:

The board voted unanimously to adopt Harcourt Brace's Ohio Social Studies for pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade for the 2008-2009 school year.

The board unanimously voted to approve Safety Town at Central Elementary in June.

The board voted unanimously to approve the ratification of a substitute track coach. The position is necessary because the middle school track coach is on jury duty that could take up to four months, Doughty said.
