Two men sent to treatment-oriented prisons for separate drug offenses

Two defendants were sentenced to a community-based corrections facility (CBCF) this week for separate drug charges. Defendants can spend up to six months in a CBCF, a form of prison which focuses on education and substance abuse treatment.

Pedro L. Denny Jr., 21, of 16B E. Main St., Wakeman, worked with a 16-year-old Vermilion boy in August 2006 to sell marijuana off Main Street in the village, Police Chief Tim Hunker said earlier. He described Denny as "the middle man" who connected the juvenile with another drug dealer.

METRICH, a multi-county drug task force, handled the investigation that lasted about 1 1/2 years.
