Radiohead schedules Aug. 4 show at Blossom

The concert news just keeps rolling in.

Radiohead has just announced an Aug. 4 date at Blossom Music Center, located near Cuyahoga Falls.

Grizzly Bear will be the opening act.

Tickets for this show go on sale Saturday and cost $50 for pit and reserved seating and $30 for lawn.

And check this out: Concert-goers who drive hybrid or bio-diesel vehicles to the concert as well as for cars that carpool five or more people will be given preferred parking.

This is because those driving those types of vehicles or carpooling are doing their part to save the environment.

This is a new idea and a pretty good one.

Just think, with less cars at Blossom, the mud-bogging after the show in the grass lots shouldn’t be as bad.

Also at Blossom, Maroon 5 and Counting Crows with special guest Sara Bareilles will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 26. Tickets for this event range in price from $25 up to $125. They go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

The recently reunited Stone Temple Pilots will play at 7:30 p.m. May 20 at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square Center State Theatre. Tickets for this concert go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday and cost $49.50 to $59.50.

Blossom Music Center is featuring an aggressive concert schedule so far. In recent years, Blossom hasn’t been a really busy place for rock acts, but this year appears to be different.

Eric Clapton will play there May 31 and James Taylor has slated a Blossom show for June 3.

Iron Maiden will visit Blossom June 12, while Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers stop there June 22.

The Dave Matthews Band has scheduled a Blossom stop July 30.

Rod Stewart with Bryan Adams will be at Blossom Aug. 9 and Poison, while Dokken and Sebastian Bach are back at Blossom on Aug. 14. Poison seems to schedule a yearly show at the Cuyahoga Falls venue.

I know a lot of people at the Reflector are excited about the Jonas Brothers’ concert Aug. 22 at Blossom.

Just noticed Stevie Nicks and Boston will play the DTE Energy Music Theatre, located north of Detroit, on June 15. Boston has a pair of front-men filling in for the late Brad Delp, including Stryper front-man Michael Sweet. Nicks will also play the Toledo Zoo Amphitheater on June 25.
