Norwalk Precast Molds recently moved to its new facility in Norwalk's Industrial Park.
The company is a manufacturer of metal molds and mold equipment for wastewater and storm water treatment systems, burial vaults, farm, utility and highway products. After renovating a 70,000-square-foot warehouse and adding 5,000 square feet of office area, the company relocated its business from its original Woodlawn Avenue location. Construction of the steel fabrication plant began in late 2006 and wrapped up in 2007.
The increased manufacturing capacity allows the company to utilize new technology including two new overhead cranes, four new jib cranes and a computer controlled plasma burner. Design specifications, based on a computer generated 3D model, are electronically transmitted to the equipment which then precisely burns individual pieces from a sheet of steel to fulfill job requirements.
Norwalk Precast Molds is more than a century old, having been founded in 1906. Its products are sold to concrete precast companies around the world. The company celebrated completion of its move to 205 Industrial Parkway with an open house for employees, city officials, community leaders, customers and guests.
