STEUBEN — Sunday is the First Sunday after Christmas. The scripture lessons, based on the theme “Flight to Egypt,” are Isaiah 63:7-9, Psalm 148, Hebrews 2:10-18, and Matthew 2:13-23. Lay members of the congregation will lead the 11 a.m. worship during the pastor’s absence. Large print and children’s bulletins will be available.  

Wakeman Congregational

WAKEMAN — The Rev. Joe Todd will lead the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, at the Wakeman Congregational Church, 14 Abbott St. Sunday school classes, including adult classes, will meet at 9:30 a.m. First- through fourth-graders and adults are requested to bring their Bibles.

Plan to attend the New Year’s Eve family potluck at the church Monday.The evening will begin at 9 and will conclude with a 15-minute service starting at 11:45. A potluck is planned, so bring along a covered dish or snacks to share. Diaconate will provide beverages and table service. Also plan to bring a game or two and enjoy a special evening with church family and friends. For more information contact the church office between 9 a.m. and noon weekdays at (440) 839-2319.

St. Mary/St. Anthony

New Year’s Day Masses will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony, and 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary.

The new Mass schedule begins next weekend. Mass at St. Anthony will be at 10:30 a.m. Sundays.  Masses at St. Mary will be 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and 8:30 a.m. Sundays.  This schedule will be in effect through the end of June.

Trinity Lutheran

MONROEVILLE — Join the congregation as the young people present a children’s Christmas service at 10:15 a.m. “Dreams of Christmas the rest of the story...” will be presented to the congregation.

St. Paul Catholic

Spanish Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. New Year’s is a Holy Day of Obligation — Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Monday and 9 and 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The St. Paul baptism ministry team meets with parents for a three-part series to explore the implications of the sacrament of baptism for them and their children.   Upcoming dates for a Tuesday series are: Jan. 8, 15 and 22. The area parishes are sponsoring an “Annulment Seminar” to help people find out more about the annulment process and the understanding of marriage it is based upon. The seminar will be held at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall, just west of Ohio 61 South on Settlement Road in Peru from 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Jan. 29. The seminar is free and open to the public.
