PORT CLINTON - Members of the AARP Tax-Aide program recently spent a week in Port Clinton preparing for the current income tax filing season.
Training included a review of income tax filing, recent changes in IRS laws, and practical exercises with computerized tax preparation and filing.
The AARP Tax-Aide program seeks to provide free income tax assistance for the elderly and those with lower incomes. Services include preparation of tax returns for federal, state, and school district income taxes. Most returns can be prepared while you wait and can be filed electronically at no cost to the taxpayer.
Services are available on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 5 at the Services for the Aging, 130 Shady Lane Drive. Call 419-668-6245 for an appointment. Services will also be in Willard at the Senior Center on Thursdays from 10 until noon. This program is sponsored by AARP and the IRS.
