A Norwalk woman is accused of attempting to get someone's Social Security check cashed so she could buy drugs.

Carla Crumrine, 23, of 704 U.S. 20, Lot 5, reportedly stole the $700 check from a disabled person Friday, Norwalk Law Director Stuart O'Hara said. The suspect is further accused of requesting two people cash it for her and then take her to Sandusky to buy undisclosed drugs.

"The two people, instead of complying, called the police like the good citizens they are," O'Hara added.

A complainant came to the Huron County Sheriff's Office on Friday night and said Crumrine was supposed to meet someone at a Westwind Drive business parking lot so she could buy the drugs using money from the stolen check, a dispatcher wrote.

Crumrine currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail on a felony theft charge and has a bond hearing scheduled for today in Norwalk Municipal Court.
