WILLARD - A committee comprised of council members will meet at 4 p.m. July 12 to further discuss the U.S. 224 street project.
The roughly $2.4 million project, which began in the 90s, involves widening all of U.S. 224 to a three-lane highway.
The first phase involved widening the road around Myrtle Avenue, while the second phase picked up on Leonard Street to west of Ohio 103.
During a brief meeting Monday, City Manager Brian Humphress told council the city has hired Jeremy Draper as a new part-time police officer.
Humphress also told council the city made the first cut to be eligible for state funding for the downtown revitalization project.
