Summer workshop offered for children in Norwalk

Curtain Call Productions, run by Norwalk performer Jill James and her husband, Dave, is offering a summer acting workshop Monday through Thursday. Available times are 4 to 5 p.m., 5 to 6 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $40, and each will take place on the second floor of the Pipo building, 75 Ontario St., Norwalk.

The workshop will focus on learning improvisations while staying in character, discovering facial expressions through non-verbal communication, group acting, staying in character, learning to develop confidence on the stage, learning to lose inhibitions, proper techniques in using your voice in singing and acting, learning how to use your voice to express yourself and more.

In short, the students will perform many different exercises to help them learn the skills needed to become good actors. It will also help prepare students for the upcoming production of "The Nuttiest Nutcracker." Rehearsals for the production begin the first week of September, and sign-ups are required.
