The fair is almost here and if you like to take pictures, this may be your year.
The 2007 Huron County Fair will hold a photography contest that will conclude in 2008.
Fair-goers can buy a disposable camera for a $10 entry fee at the Senior Fair Office or the Expo Building. Cameras are limited to the first 20 people. Pictures can be taken of anything at the 2007 fair. The finished cameras can be turned in at the Senior Fair Office and the photographer will receive $5 back. The fairboard will have the film developed. The pictures and negatives can be picked up from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Wilson Building or from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Senior Fairboard Office.
Next July, Anyone who wants to enter the photography contest can pick out four pictures to enter and fill out an entry form for the photography class for the 2008 fair.
The theme for the 2008 fair is "Fun at the Fair."
The theme this year is "At a Park" and people from the two classes "Written in Rocks" and "Building a Dream" went to different structure around Ohio such as farms, lighthouses and parks.
Photography Superintendent Mindy Borsick said she wanted the fair classes to be closer to home.
"Instead of traveling around the world or state, we decided to make it more hometown," Borsick said. "We just want some fun pictures of different activities at the fair."
The pictures will be displayed at the 2008 Huron County Fair, when the winner will be chosen.
The photography class is open to adults and youths, but pre-registration is necessary.
"Even kids can do it, it is open to anyone who will be at the fair," Borsick said.
