Salvation Army hosts Learning Zone

Four afternoons a week eager second- through fourth-grade students enter the Salvation Army's Learning Zone. This program started very small in 1999 to work with students who needed a little extra help with homework and has expanded far beyond expectations. Although the original purpose is still the first priority, the zone has become a multi-faceted growth experience.

 In order for each child to receive the most individual attention, they are divided into three groups who rotate between three different stations, one being help in completing homework assignments. Additionally, there are other sectors for computer learning and literacy crafts using recycled items, hands-on awareness of our environment while creating fun things.
