Public needs to know where money goes

A belated congratulations (Mary Lisa Boose) on your Nov. 1 page one story headlined "JFS hikes bosses' pay in midst of union talks." It was very much in the public interest for you to publish that. Just as much in the public interest would be some figures on the retirement pensions that these folks will be getting. I'm sure a lot of people would like to see those numbers.
I used to live in a small town in western Colorado, Palisade (pop. 2000), where editor Bob Dougherty used to print every single expenditure of the town government in the back of the Palisade Tribune near the classifieds. And I mean every expenditure if someone bought a couple of reams of paper at Sanders Office Supply, that would be in there. You can bet that money was spent very carefully in that little town.
Again, congratulations on a fine article,
